Supporting Regenerative Agriculture for Better Soil Health

Committed to the Health of Pets and Our Planet

We care about making quality pet food with responsibly sourced ingredients. That’s why we’re supporting farmers’ transition to regenerative agricultural practices for soil health with a global investment of $30 million.

How Our Investment Supports Farmers’ Transition to Regenerative Agriculture

How Our Investment Supports Farmers’ Transition to Regenerative Agriculture

We are investing to support corn and wheat farmers in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota as they transition to regenerative agriculture practices such as cover cropping, no/low tillage, crop rotation, nutrient management and soil erosion control.

We’re also supporting rice farmers in Arkansas and Missouri with an investment of over $6.8 million as they transition to regenerative agriculture practices like alternate wetting and drying (AWD), conservation tillage and crop rotation.

In Europe, we’re supporting wheat farmers in the UK and corn and wheat farmers in Italy with their transition to regenerative practices including cover crops, reduced tillage and hedgerow planting. In 2024, we have started to engage with farmers in Poland and Hungary to extend our regenerative agriculture practices in more European countries.

Expansion Plans

Expansion Plans

As we learn, we will grow our investment and expand into other regions. In 2024, we will support regenerative agriculture programs in Latin America. In 2025, we will invest in programming in the Asia and Oceania regions.

What is Regenerative Agriculture?

What Is Regenerative Agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach to farming which aims to improve soil health and fertility by restoring soil organic matter. This can ultimately help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by promoting carbon sequestration. Regenerative agriculture practices like cover crops, no-till and agroforestry provide both the farmer and ecosystem with many benefits, including:

  • Better soil water retention
  • Increased capture of carbon (GHGs)
  • Enhanced biodiversity
