CÉSAR, a three-year-old Boxer woke his owner Gisèle Lussier, by leaping on her chest and barking, as her house filled with deadly carbon monoxide fumes from a kerosene heater during the Ice Storm of 1998. Disoriented, Gisèle managed to dial 911 before collapsing on the floor. When paramedics arrived, Gisèle was unconscious with an extremely weak pulse, and had to be revived before being taken to the hospital.
